Scaffrite completed its first job for Brick & Steel in February 2012. Since then we have gone on to complete a host of different projects for them, some very simple and some very technical. Brick & Steel do a wide range of building works mainly in the public sector and we have successfully completed projects for them on schools, hospitals, churches, shopping centres, police stations and private residences. Here are two of the more memorable jobs we did for them at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock:
An access walkway. Built over the main service road of the hospital then beamed over temporary buildings that housed a nursery to join with a beam trussed out cantilever platform giving access to a high dependency ward. Working elevations up to roof level allowing a new ventilation system to be installed. This was a tricky job because no loading could be placed on the roof of the nursery.
A Walk across the rooftops. Crosshouse hospital required a new plant room to be built in the heart of the existing hospital. Obviously access for building materials would present the busy hospital with a major headache, so the solution was to build two access and egress platforms with mechanical hoists, link them with a 1.25-meter-wide walkway across the roofs of the hospital to a central courtyard allowing access for operatives and materials without disrupting the day to day operation of the hospital.
